All,
Margaret was not married to John Bean Sr. She was married to John Beaman. John ‘the Patriot’ Beaman I have the marriage record and the DAR verification. She is currently still linked to John Bean AND to this profile of John Beeman. Now we have this additional profile of Margaret Hunter that's been created and made a Master profile. Id like to suggest that we create a project for the Beaman family so that we can get this straight.

Thanks.

There IS a curator note atop Margaret Hunter's (Mrs. Bean's) profile as well as Margaret Hunter's (Mrs. Beaman's) profile stating they are 2 different people, not to be confused with each other. I'm pretty sure you missed the memo.

Unfortunately, I cannot change the death date on Mrs. Bean's profile which is the exact same date as Mrs. Beaman's profile because that's not my place to do so. Also, I believe the marriage dates were listed the same as well. That information was previously there and shall remain unless one of Mrs. Bean's descendant's provides something else.

I know it irks you, but it is what it is, and the trees were separated to accommodate 'your' liking as best as I could. I will not change any more.

PS.
You're welcome.

Thanks K. I'm not irked. Forgive me, I don't know where to look for a "Curator" note. Maybe you can help show me?

Curator notes are on the top of profiles (usually master profiles, but sometimes not), in a light blue rectangular box. Click Margaret Hunter (either one) and look at the top of their profiles.

Ok. Thanks... all they say is "this is the master profile for Margaret Hunter". I thought it was going to say more. Sorry for the confusion. Now that I can see that there are two Margaret Hunters all of the confusion makes so much more sense! Thanks for showing that to me. There are quite a few folks on ancestry.com that should see this. I'd like to find a way to merge my duplicate profile with John Beaman/Beeman but I'm nervous about causing all sorts of issues. Right now it's set to private - but I do have some additional info. on him and the rest of the Beeman line. Thoughts?

Under the Master Profile comment, it says:
Curator Note from K. Anderson, Curator (1/30/2011):
Not to be confused with Margaret HUNTER married to John BEEMAN.

In the event you do want to merge your Beeman line...
We can always make your profiles Master Profiles if you choose to merge. Make sure to put documents and sources in so that future users know the truth, with proof, about your lineage. Also, there are other Beaman descendants on the tree that I am curating through. You may find your not-so-very-distant Distant cousins.

FYI
You're related to Hunnicut...well there's a celebrity who was also a Beeman and Hunnicut descendant named Gayle Hunnicutt. She was on the 80s show Dallas. :)
Here is her profile: Gayle Hemmings

K... I don't want to be trouble, but that note doesn't show for me. Maybe it's a Geni bug?

I would like to work on merging, but I can only do this work in the evenings as I work long daily hours. I have a bit of documentation already posted on my profiles. I've been gathering info for my DAR application. Hate their politics, but love the history.

Yes, the Hunnicut/Hunnicutt/Honeycutt family and the Beeman family are intertwined. My great grandfather's names was Charles Hunnicutt Beeman.

Didn't know about Gayle Hunicutt. The more famous "Beeman" was Margaret Beeman, married to John Neely Bryant who founded Dallas, Texas.

So, if I may message you when I have some time to figure the merge thing out, that would be really great. Thanks.

I see no Curator note on the Margaret Hunter wife of John Bean profile.

Looks like Geni might have a bug here.

You're right. I signed out and signed in a different acct. and it doesn't show. Very weird.

Good: I wasn't being dense. Bad: geni has a bug. Who do we tell?

Hopefully Ashiya and Noah can address this. :)
Do you guys normally see Curator notes? I'm wondering if it's for everyone or Curators only?? I never really noticed before because I'm always signed in as myself, not on my dummy-account.

If it helps:

On Margaret Beeman

I am seeing

This is the Master Profile for Margaret Hunter.
Curator Note from K. Anderson, Curator (30/1/2011):
Not to be confused with Margaret HUNTER married to John BEEMAN.

Hm, David, that is really weird! I wonder what is going on...Beth can you check and see if it now shows???

1/31/2011 at 5:02 PM

@K Anderson, Curator - I am not involved, but I thought I would check the note myself...as far as I can see there is no curator note on the file. Good luck with this.

K Anderson: I wonder if it makes a difference that I am collaborating with you so I have edit access to the profile. If I wasn't collaborating with you, maybe I would not see it?

Beth and Dea: Are you collaborating with K? If not, then can one of you collaborate with K and then check if you can see the note?

1/31/2011 at 6:00 PM

I'm not collaborating and can't see the note. I have a collaboration request in...

1/31/2011 at 6:28 PM

Are you both looking at the same Margaret Hunter profile?

1/31/2011 at 6:29 PM

I see they are both referenced above and I see K's curator note on both of them :)

1/31/2011 at 6:32 PM

Hi Hatte.... K. has put notes on both. Neither of which I can view. Must be some sort of Geni bug.

1/31/2011 at 6:57 PM

I think so Beth because the whole point of Curator's notes is that people should be able to see them. We're trying to get the best information and right relationships in the profiles, especially the historic profiles where there are many duplicates and that ends up leading to merges. And where there is competing, contradictory information, sometimes the profiles get confused.

1/31/2011 at 7:43 PM

which is exactly what happened in this case.... K was diligently working and I couldn't see her notes....

1/31/2011 at 7:45 PM

I know, that's why it makes no sense that you can't see the curator's notes!

1/31/2011 at 8:49 PM

Ok.. here's an update. I'm now added as a manager for John ‘the Patriot’ Beaman and I can see the curator note. I could not before being added.

2/1/2011 at 7:13 AM

Noah Tutak I thought that EVERYONE could see curator's notes. If this is not the case, it should be. Can you get this fixed? Thanks.

2/1/2011 at 8:27 AM

Everyone should be able to see curator notes. This is a bug, we'll get it fixed.

Thanks Noah. :)

2/1/2011 at 9:00 AM

Cool. I'm a new curator and maybe I missed it, but it would be helpful to explain curator's notes and master profiles and the purpose of them somewhere. The curators are nearly all active and will respond within 24 - 48 hours to a request to change a Master Profile, assuming that the change is to make a verified correction/addition.

A lot of times, we have spent time researching the most reliable information and then someone makes a merge and wipes out the information/relationships we spent hours on. So curator notes help explain where there are "issues" like two similar profiles that we have untangled that are prone to getting merged.

Thanks again Noah!

2/1/2011 at 11:43 AM

Turns out this isn't a bug - we decided to only show curator notes on profiles to users who have edit permission on that profile. The note always shows on the compare profiles page. However, we'll change the rules so that everyone can see the notes.
