Pictures are broken

They're in the process of converting some of the characters to those readable by the tree system. I suspect this is what is happening. Mike Stangel might be able to provide some insight or take a look at it.

Exactly -- we've been running a script for a few days to fix the photos that won't draw in the tree. Unfortunately the tail end of the script ended up renaming the URLs without actually renaming the image files, due to an operational problem. We're fixing them again but it'll be at least a few days.

My tree in this process too. Thanks, for details about what going on.

It's good to know, that photo's will appear back soon :) Will wait for them. My tree is suffering, too.

Some fresh info from Geni Team:
"The script has over 200,000 photos to rename and re-upload to photos.geni.com -- that's probably going to take about 10 days."

The script to repair photos with international characters is finished. These should now show correctly on the profiles and in the tree. If you're still having problems with some photos, let me know and I can investigate.

I can view the albums I created and albums created by a few cousins, but many other albums I was recently able to view have disappeared. What happened to them?

Hi Debby, I think we'll need more information to be able to answer your question. Do you know who owned the albums that you can no longer see, and/or how the album owner is related to you?

To start at the beginning:

I noticed my 4th cousin once removed (Jessica Campbell Jessica Anne Campbell ) and I had a duplicate entry for David Wayne Barton Private User so I merged the profiles. His photo disappeared. Since the photo was in Jessica's collection I went to the photo album page to see if the photo of David Barton was still in her album. That's when I discovered there were only ten albums. There used to be a lot more than that. Some of them belonged to Virginia Diane Anderson, John H. Nye, and Karen Vee Schick. One of Karen's is still viewable from my album page, but none of the others mentioned are. And I still don't know why David Barton's photo disappeared when I merged the profiles. Since after the merger there were duplicate parents, I selected the parents Jessica had entered since her information was more complete than mine. That's the only thing I did that was different.
