I live in Hungary, my grandmother was Sarolta Klein, she was born in Tiszaörs, his father, József Klein was born in 1860 in Tibolddaróc, he had a sister, Cecilia Klein. Their father was Samuel Hermann Klein. I know only this data about my Klein roots.

Hi, Agnes and Racheli. I have just scanned in all the Kunmadaras records from LDS film 642832 (records from 1855 - 1895). There are lots of Kleins on it - are you related to any of them?

1/6/2011 at 4:54 AM

Racheli,
I sent that photo about my Klein relatives to the Jewishgen.
Rudolf Klein was my grandmother's brother.
Joe, both of my uncle and my aunt got married with Kleins from Kunmadaras. David Klein was my aunt's husband, he was born in 1901 and had 11 siblings.
I'd be very happy to get records from Kunmadaras, we'd like to make memorial website for the local Jews and the cemetery.

Thank you Joe, I downloaded all files, and looked at all of it, and finally I found my maternal relatives in the registers, sorry, I did not find any clue of living persons in the Jewishgen and the Yad Vashem databases.

On Monday I talked with my friend, Laszlo, whom father came from Kunmadaras, too. We plan a memorial site of the local Jews in English and Hungarian, too. I hope we'll be able to make photos all of the headstones on summer.

I saw a photo of the Kunmadaras cemetery from 2009. It looked very overgrown - like a jungle! How much do you think it cost to hire someone to keep it tidy?

1/13/2011 at 3:50 AM

The mayor's office pays workers who cut the grass in the cemetery in summer (sometimes) We'll try to go there, when it'll be cleared.
I can talk about it with the local librarians.

Hi Joe, hi Ágnes and hi ALL,
my great-great grandmother was @Klein Mari, who lived in Szarvas (Hungary), but her family moved there from Kunszentmárton (not too far from Kunmadaras, cca 80km).
regards.
Peter

Hi Péter,
I'd be very happy to get photos and documents about your family, both from Szarvas and Kunszentmarton.
I have dealt with the Jews' history of Heves and Szolnok counties for a long time, and I and my friends (historians and web page developers) plan memorial websites both of English and Hungarian, like these:
http://www.shtetlinks.jewishgen.org/Eger/default.htm
http://www.shtetlinks.jewishgen.org/Tiszafured/default.htm
Earlier I got a lot of documents and photos about the Jews of Kunszentmarton, from the local librarians, among them was a photo of Adolf Klein's shop.
regards

In case anyone is interested, I've also uploaded scans of the Kunhegyes births, deaths, and marriages. Some of the Kunhegyes records are also mixed with Kunmadaras ones. You can find them here: http://picasaweb.google.com/jdslater/Kunhegyes#

Hi Racheli,

My great grandfather was Endre Klein. He was born in Koppányszántó, Hungary. His parents were Áron Klein and Betti Walder. Does It match somehow?

Hello,
I have 2 separates Klein Branches in Hungary,
1- Klara klein born in Monok in 1849 and who got married to Pinhas Fulop / Philip (1841,Monok). They had 2 childs, Samuel Fulop/Philip (1874) /Philip who married to Margit Betti Blum (1878). Both in turn had 4 children among which my grandfather Pinhasz (Jeno) Fulop

2- The mother of Margit Blum (mentionned before) was Eszter Klein born between 185/1860 in Màd.

Does this sound familiar to someone ?
