Made famous by the illustrious "Silver Tongue Orators", Sir Lakshmanaswamy and Sir Ramaswamy Mudaliars, the Arcot Mudaliars are typical for achieving a balance between westernization and protecting their rich culture. Sir lakshmanaswamy and Sir Ramaswamy for instance dressed in formal suits but donned a 'Talapa' or the traditional South Indian head-wear accessory. Teir culture is unique in that it was rooted to Tamilian/Dravidian values and at the same time practiced traditional Hindu religious rituals and dieties.
Perhaps, the Arcot Mudaliars are the bridge between Dravidian and Aryan cultures.
