Leorpha Zum Mallen
December 5, 1921 — January 17, 2001

Leorpha "Lee" Faith Love Zum Mallen of Crete died Jan. 17, 2001, at The Anchorage of Beecher nursing home. She was born Dec. 5, 1921, in Tremont, Mont. She had been employed at Sears in Park Forest for 35 years as customer service manager. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chicago Heights. She enjoyed genealogy, antiquing and traveling. Mrs. Zum Mallen is survived by her husband, Wilbur "Webb" Zum Mallen; two daughters, Cathie Dettwiler of Montgomery, Ala., and Cindy (Paul) Bradley of Momence; four grandchildren, Scott Dettwiler of Nashville, Tenn., Blake Dettwiler of Atlanta, Ga., and Erika Bradley and Megan Bradley, both of Chicago; a sister, Dar (Robert) Opie of Beecher; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral was conducted Jan. 22 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chicago Heights. The Rev. William Metzger officiated. Burial was in Sherburnville Cemetery in Sherburnville. Memorials may be made to Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 833 West Washington Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607. Arrangements were under the direction of Hirsch Funeral Home.
