I'm looking forward to it !!! I'm adopted and always knew my birthname and knew there was a connection to Davy Crockett, but until this year, had no way of proving it. Anyway, I've lived in Colorado for my entire 50 years, a state extremely rich in history. I love history and am somewhat familiar with most of Colorado's famous historical characters.
I love the wild West, too..my dad used to take me to "Ghost Towns" as a kid which I used to hate because I get motion sickness and we'd be in the deserts and mountains at various altitudes and temperatures, but as an adult I am so very appreciative of the things I saw or did (panning for gold, sitting in a real ore barrow, seeing old graves, etc. One of my favorite stops back from Nevada is to California is Calico which Knott's Berry Farm actually copied their "Calico" ghost town from.
I hope to one day see more...they are all over California as this is the place of the Gold Rush.
Another favorite is Jerome, Arizona, right outside of Sedona. They mined for ore there, and quit as the hill started to slide. You can go in the old Douglas mansion and everything is left as-is as much as possible, as they have turned it into a museum. It was originally meant to be a hotel for tourists and a bed and breakfast for the miners who worked in the Litle Daisy mine. It never panned out that way....
