Hi All,

I have been going through this project for the past couple of weeks and deleting the trees or deactivating the claimed historical profiles.

Instead of removing those profiles from the list, I will leave notes next to the information you all provided (in case you have a system you are all using). Also, since others are also including notes to some [i.e. Kevin 2187 ER Looks like a pedigree tree for horses (Geni would be perfect for that) ] - you all might consider removing those from this project to avoid any confusion.

In the past, I was not making any notes- so you might want to make sure the links included in this project are current and no longer include links to those since removed.

As, I do not have time to go through and update this project every time, it would be very much appreciated if you all could take turns managing this project.

Ashiya,

Thanks, your comments in the body of the project page will be looked for and I'll remove the entire line including your comment after I've seen it. Your notes are appreciated because they provide feedback that the issues are being resolved. As I delete them from the list I'm re-enter entering the names in the "Morgue" section of the page to kind of keep of the name of popular fake profiles that people are creating.

Also the list of collaborators is currently 551people with the majority of them being "fake" or "fake historical" profiles themselves. It would be helpful if you use your discretion and start deleting those also as needed.

Thanks for your feedback, Randy. Yes, those 551 profiles are for those who are claimed. So, I will address those first.

This user has created a whole fake tree:HRH The Princess Tatjana of Poland. Or at least the display names are fake.

Private User or others that would like to respond...

Is there a process in place, or discussions on the geni support side, to systematically get rid of the Bart Simpson's and Harry Potter etc. related fake profiles?

The longer these sit out there the greater the chance that a user will accidentally (or maliciously) merge it with a real profile, including profiles that are in the big tree.

Ashiya,

It looks like you took care of most of the Homer Simpson family ones as well as the claimed historic profiles of Adolf Hitler that were posted independently on the front page of the project. Are you still leaving a notes next to the ones that you delete? I went ahead and removed the link to them on the front page of the project is the link was now pointing to a deleted profile.
