Fake or Pretend Profiles on geni :)

I've also added a section in the project to list commonly found "Placeholder names for real people" that I've come across on geni.

I'd really like to add you as a collaborator on the project ....but I can't see a link or button that lets me do that. Is that a "Curator" only privilege at the moment or am I just not seeing how to do it?

Randy, you're just not seeing how to do it.

1. Go to my profile.
2. On the right under "view tree" there is a More Actions menu.
3. Drop down, Project Options.
4. Drop down box opens: add to project.
5. Close.

You don't like to be listed together with the fake managers?

Technically it does not matter since those who take actions on the fake accounts have to double-check if it is fake or not anyhow, and I admit that I checked your profile when you just joined the project, and did not add you to the list of managers we should take actions on ;-)

The project have both a fun and a serious part, - the fun and obvious fake accounts might be mentioned in the project front-page, but there is no need to list all 50 Homer Simpson's.

As stated in the project discussions: When taking actions the priority is connected claimed historical or abusive profiles. The pedigree trees for horses and dogs will for the moment be left alone and only listed as remarkable trees on the front page.

I would however remind you all about the Geni Terms you find a link to at the bottom of each page if you have plans of adding such profiles.

I found this merge request. The manager "Elizabeth Woodville" is also the wife of Edward IV. I don't know how to deal with this, so I refer it to the curators. Thanks. Mary

It is an unconnected tree, so we just leave it unconnected for now.

The manager is already flagged as a fake manager.
