For a few days I've been getting the following message “Your translation contains prohibited words and will not be accepted”.
I was translating some words into Portuguese (Portugal) like for example “document” (documento) or “discussion” (discussão) and they have both been refused, which is weird because they used to be accepted! I can always replace “discussão” by “debate” but “document” in portuguese is “documento”.

Is there a list of prohibited words anywhere? And can we amend it?

It's controlled by the language administrator which I'm guessing is Lúcia Pilla in the case of Portuguese. You'll have to ask her.

No, Victar, I'm not. Giancarlo Krampe Oppermann is the administrator for Brazilian Portuguese. But Carina is from Portugal.

Oh, well then Carina, you should have complete control over this.

Well… when I click on the link, I get this message “In order to manage a language you first must request to become a manager of that language. Please send your request to Geni support.” Maybe that’s what I should do now… contact Geni support! Thanks everyone.

Yeah, if you can't access that page, it sounds like your not an administrator of it. Only administrators can create rules and delete the translations of others.

In the brazilian portuguese translation there are no prohibited words until now, as far as I know... I even didn't knew the existence of this resource. But it's good to know. Let's hope it will unnecessary

I had a reply from Geni staff and they are sending me to this project (Translators) for assistance. It looks like I am going in circles here!

Who is the Portuguese (Portugal) Language administrator?

Private User, Amos Eagle Elliston, could either of you tell us?

Carina, sorry for the delay. It looks like the words documento and discussão got marked as prohibited, because they contain "cu", which was added to the list of prohibited words. I will add you as the Portugese language manager. Please verify that there are no other word conflicts. Switch to Portugese and go to this url:

Thank you.

Private User, I think this illustrates that prohibited words needs to ban whole words only.

Fantastic! I can now carry on with my translations. Thanks again for your quick response.
