Hi,

it look like there are 3 different messages:
* http://www.geni.com/tr8n/phrases/view?translation_key_id=192383
* http://www.geni.com/tr8n/phrases/view?translation_key_id=195319
* http://www.geni.com/tr8n/phrases/view?translation_key_id=212426

First two does depend upon gender of the actor, but last one has {actors} thus not dependent upon gender (plural form). I've seen the use of 3rd phrase in the place (Noah Tutak) where actor is single person thus rendering any plural form not applicable.

Is that phrase misuse?

Regards,

m.

See "Activity" tab on ones Profile page (Noah posts a lot of replies), and look up entries that contain "replied to the project discussion".

{actors} can be one or more people. As you say though, for the case of one person, the token needs to support gender contextual rules which it does not.

@Myroslav I went into my language tools and I can see that you can edit the list contextual rules to specify gender. You just have to create two new rules there. Let me know if you need help.

Great! It should be recent addition. I've already created the rules for my language and it works much better now. Thanks Victar for pointer.

So the 3rd one:
http://www.geni.com/tr8n/phrases/view?translation_key_id=212426
{actors} replied to the public discussion {topic}
currently it has possibility to use Context rule: viewing_user - Gender.
Context rule number is currently n/a
How I can (at language management page or in other place) activate the number rule?
I want result (in another language of course):

{actors} replied_in_singular to the public discussion {topic}
Context: num is 1

{actors} replied_in_plural to the public discussion {topic}
Context: num is not 1

@Lauri Kreen, Language now can new context rules that apply to lists. It is responsibility of your language manager to add List rules.

Possible rules are: 1 or more then one of anybody/male/female/at least one male/at least one female/all male/all female.

Your language can depend on some but have no meaning or other combination. Thus language manager have to add appropriate ones. In my language having 3 cases is enough.

Myroslav Opyr - I am Language Manager.
All needed context rules are enabled (including NUM rules):
http://www.geni.com/photo/view/6000000001163637216?photo_id=6000000...
But this will not add possibility to use NUM context rules if Geni authors had not defined these rules for each token (like {actors} and/or {targets}).

Lauri Kreen as far as I understand you have to rely upon Actors context rules as "list" not "num". Do you have "list" column when creating translation dependent upon context rules for http://www.geni.com/tr8n/phrases/view?translation_key_id=212426 message?

Myroslav Opyr BINGO!

Language Manager shall activate List Rules for your language at Language Management Page and all problems for "actors" and "targets" are solved.
Best example:
{targets} received gifts from {actors}
will give 4 different phrases:
actors contains one element and targets contains one element
actors contains one element and targets contains at least two elements
actors contains at least two elements and targets contains one element
actors contains at least two elements and targets contains at least two elements
