I started working on the family tree of Steve Jobs, founder of Apple, Inc. It is somewhat complex because of these reasons:

1) He was adopted by the Jobs family.
2) His biological father was apparently "Fresh off the boat" from Syria.
3) There are many divorces and children born out of wedlock.
4) He keeps much of his personal life out of the public eye.

If any of you can help, I would appreciate it.

Also, there are many notable people in this comparably small tree:

Oh, awesome, the bracket method of linking doesn't work anymore.

Also, there are many notable people in this comparably small tree:

Steve Jobs
Lisa Nicole Brennan-Jobs
Laurene Powell-Jobs
Mona Simpson
Richard Appel

I would be interested in working on the Mona Simpson and Richard Appel profiles. I've read their fiction and I'm a big fan.

This brings up one of my personal *BIG* issues with Geni.

We were foster parents for eight years and have adopted four children. BOTH birth and adoptive parents (and I would also argue foster) are historically and personally relevant.

I raised this question over two years ago and the only solutions they presented were to:
1. Omit one family.
2. Enter both (or multiple) parent (and siblings...) and leave them un-merged.

I know that my perspective is emotionally slanted. However, it leaves me feeling that our family structure is invalid. There are so many other issues that can complicate identities, practically and personally, for these children that to *literally* leave them UNCONNECTED to *any* family (even visually *marked* with a big yellow triangle) tugs at my Mama heart.

I understand your frustrations, Jennifer. I, too, have adoptions in my family, and I am left using the yellow-triangle method to represent them.

I'm sure the Geni staff knows this is an important feature. We hear complaints about it constantly. Sadly, Geni doesn't have unlimited resources.

Private User, the bracket method works fine. :-) Although you do have to use DOUBLE brackets. [[ ]]

Ah, my mistake.
