There is some question as to the mother of @Betsey Reynolds Reed. It's believed that Bathsheba Randall Reynolds is Betsey's mother. The question arises from the large span of years for the birth Bathsheba's children. Her first child was born in 1774, and her last was born in 1806 with the birth of Betsey and her twin Barbara. I've started a MtDNA project to help prove that Bathsheba is the mother. A female descendant has recently been found who has an unbroken maternal line to her ancestor, Betsey Reynolds Reed. This descendant has just submitted her DNA for testing and if Bathsheba is Betsey's mother, this MtDNA sample should match another female with a known direct maternal line to Bathsheba, her mother, or grandmother. Since maternal MtDNA mutates so slowly, it is an excellent way of proving maternal relationships. Betsey's MtDNA will be a match to her mother, grandmother, great grandmother and so on. More female individuals with known direct maternal lines are needed for testing so there are results to compare against. The site on FamilyTreeDNA is:

Thanks for your help in solving this family mystery.

Hello Bathsheba,

I see that you have started this discussion about specific people, but did NOT link to the relevant profiles. You'll get much better results if you do so, because the discussion will be visible from the profile itself, and will be seen by the profile managers as well.
