From Susan Goodman:
Philip Goodman, his son, asked Mendel to promise to take care of his family, his wife Teddy and 4 children, Brenda, Susan, Karen & Kent after his death. Mendel kept his promise by taking the kids shopping every Saturday for groceries. He did this for years, in addition to giving each kid $0.50 allowance every week. Susan was grateful for the $0.50 every week, but after awhile found it barely adequate for her weekly ration of hamburgers and fries. So she went to work. On the other hand, there was always candy in a crystal dish on Grandpa's table which the Goodman kids could take at will, in addition to some great stone steps on which they could play "bumpety bump."
My Grandfather, Mendel Goodman. was an avid fan of Wrestling. Every Thursday afternoon he would pick me up and take me to his home. At exactly 5:00 pm Gramma would serve us dinner. A steak, a great salad and a vegetable. If dinner wasn't on the table at 5 pm sharp, Grandpa would get nervous. What great steaks grandma would prepair in the boiler of her oven.
After dinner, without fail, she would announce that she would wash the dishes. Mendel would always protest, saying that the washing the dishes was his territory. Together Grandpa and I would wash the dishes and then watch "Rastling" (wrestling) on TV.
Other fond memories were going fishing with my Grandfather.
