Knud Knudson Kluge was born 1855 and died 1876. He married Serina Aasland. They lived in Griggs County, North Dakota. He bought a threshing machine with his brother Hans. Knud (sometimes Knute) suffered from serious arthritis. Knud and Serina had ten children. The names of the children were Bertha, , Dorothy Maria, Carl, Alfred, Melvin, Herman, Alice, Esther,and Florence. My line descends throught Melvin Holland. Sometime after being in America the spelling of their Surname became Holland.
His brother Hans was a single bachelor and he farmed in the community of Sverdrup, Griggs County, North Dakota. Hans Haaland/Holland made a trip back to Norway when he was about 50. I wondered who he was visiting. It seems he was visiting his sisters who had stayed in Norway.
Elisabeth Haaland married Martin Ueland and they had a farm in Sverdrup, Griggs County, North Dakota also. They had numerous children.
The family was connected to the Zion Lutheran Church in Griggs County, North Dakota.
