Dear Sandra,
According to GISA -info compiled by "JA. Heese and R.T.J.Lombaard" a Willem VAN DER MERWE (son of Schalk VAN DER MERWE) arrived 1660 from Holland and married Elsie CLOETE on 9.91668 in Capetown. According to this source Elsje Cloete was born c.1646 and died 1698. Their 2nd child, Schalk VAN DER MERWE(named after his grandfather back in Holland) *14.7.1673 married Anna(Anne)PREVOT(b4)* born 18.2.1681 in Marcq, d/o Charles PREVOT and Marie LE FEBRE from Calais(France) who arrived in 1688 from Amsterdam on the ship "De Schelde". Charles PREVOT died in the same year as his arrival at the Cape on July 1688. Anna PREVOT died c.1745. Elsje VAN DER MERWE (nee CLOETE) was Anna PREVOT's mother-in-law.
I suspect that Willem PREVOT was either someone not directly related to Charles PREVOT and thus a second husband of Elsje VAN DER MERWE (CLOETE) or a mistaken entry by the profile manager. Confusing individuals happens even to the best of us.
Hi Esther
Thanks for your reply. You're right about cofusing individuals!
After some further looking I suspect that Willem PREVOT may have been a 2nd husband. It does get complicated when the Trees are not "clean" and Anna PREVOT is listed as having 2 sets of parents. It should just be her biological parents, not her in-laws, as we can see those through her husband.
Thanks again for your help!
Sandra here is the complete Prevot register as in the beginng.

I can find no other Prevot as her husband on MOOC, KAB, or any other instance in have.
Hope it helps.
Judi
Hi Sandra,
Elsie Jacoba was Elsie Jacoba Cloete b2c9d6e2f10
She is not the same person who married Schalk v d Merwe SV/PROG.
I have deleted Willem Prevot as her husband as it is not shown anywhere.
There son Willem Schalk b2 wwas married to Anna Prevot b3, d.v. Charles Prevot and Maria Lefebrè.
I hope it helps you a bit.
I will look at the Inventories, MOOC, KAB, etc. tommorrow and see if I can find some prove that Elsje was married to a Willem Prevot. No proof or sources have been added or verified by more than one sources up to this point.
Elsje Jacoba is as shown way down the line.
Judi
Judi, you are a STAR!!!
It's a pity that one cannot lock a profile, especially one at the beginning of a tree. Thanks for all your help. I will have to pick your brains about accessing the GISA database and all the others. I find the search engines very cumbersome! Proberly got more to do with me not knowing what to enter!!!
How can one get copies of documents filed in Cape Town, for instance, my great grandfather's will?
fond regards
Sandra
Morning Sandra,
It is a great pleasure.
In the early day profiles could be locked btu that caused major disaster. People would take other people's profiles as there own and lock i, and then duplicates, triplicates and a lot of wrong infor occured.
To look at Cape inventories etc. you can lock into the TANAP sit - Master of the Cape of Good hope - stll there you hav eto be careful not to get wrong inormation. Exc. a sons info instead of his fathers or cousins.
In SA I always wish I can lock into French, German and Netherlands info.
Have a lovely day.
