Check your feasts in the Bible and you will find Jesus was born between Sept. 17th and the 28th. This was check out by a Bibilca scholar and a secular scholar. That's why there is a difference in the days.

Actually, I don't think there's any historical reference to pin the date to December.

For a start, there wouldn't have been shephards on the hills in winter, so tricky for them to be there for the angel Gabriel to go and fetch them.

It's more likely that December was chosen by the early church to co-opt an existing pagan midwinter festival into the Christian calendar.
