Uncle Quinton faught in the Pacific Theater as a Marine. Gary Adams (Penny Pruitt Adams' husband--who was in the Marines) recalls Uncle Quinton saying that he was on Gudalacanal, but that he did not speak much of his experiences there. After watching "The Pacific," I understand why. John Pruitt (Penny Pruitt Adams' brother) recalls Uncle Quinton mentioning that when he was about to "hit the beach" while in an amphibious unit, once the door opened and they started to move out, Uncle Quinton's friend/war buddy who was directly in front of him, was killed by the Japanese with shots to the head.
