I only find 3 persons with that name, and only 4 managers on the most popular one. In the Viking lines, I have gotten up to 70 managers for a single profile, so he's not overly popular - there must be something else.
One thing that may be confusing: If you ask to merge 2 profiles, the display often returns to the profiles, so that it looks as if nothing happened - or if there is another merge you need to do. Check the list of little pictures under the profiles, they tell you where you are in the merge stack.
