I, Jeanette Williams Stup and daughter of the late Charles M Williams, wish to share fond memories of the man my sister, Jennifer, and I referred to fondly as "Uncle Ernie."
You see, Uncle Ernie was a traveling sales man-- yes he was legit and never sold snake oil. lol On his travels he occasionally passed through our area in Ravenswood, WV. As children we really looked forward to his visits. He was funny, handsome-yes, even as a child I knew good looking men when I saw them!
Back to the story. Mom and Dad opened our home to visits from him, often unannounced (no cell phones back then) and, of course dinner, which was whatever mom happened to be cooking that night. I remember that practically every time he came mom was cooking spaghetti. It got to be a joke that spaghetti was the only thing this Williams family ate! Good thing mom made good spaghetti.
Our family used to speak of this fond memory frequently and the fun visits from Uncle Ernie. Of course, Mom and Dad have proceded us to heaven and Jennifer is no longer able to remember the past but I will always think very fondly of Uncle Ernie!
