He does not respond and needs to be blocked.
Dear freind
I don't understand nor him neigther you. This blocking - blocking back is a total mistake in my opinion if he has blocked you - it works both ways.
Blocking back only say - I thing you a stupid too!!
And what does it solve to unmerge - only having a profil hanging somewhere around making new problems, you can't delete it anyway, an unmerged profil is not a mistake only a not yet completed merge!!
You should NEVER block people. There might be personal reasons why people don't log onto Geni every day, and blocking them also blocks them from sending you a message explaining the situation and inviting YOU as a collaborator.
You should also know that blocking people always have a boomerang effect: You also block yourself, like blocking your own access to that managers profiles.
Does anyone have any form of contact with Eivind Eriksen: Eivind Fridtjof Eriksen
I have unresolved merges with his profiles since december 2009, among others, this one: http://www.geni.com/merge/compare/6000000003575251883?idx=1
(The merged by date is wrong, he was disconnected because of unresponsiveness, but the profile get connected back all the time.)
I just inherited 94 profiles left behind by a user who has left Geni. I requested management of them because they are relevant to not only my tree, but the big tree. I intend to do this from now on....best, I think, that we who actively and willingly collaborate and/or accept merge requests should snap them up when we can, just in case they fall into the hands of one of the unresponsive managers? What do you guys think? :)
I fully agree, I have gotten into the habit of always going to a profile's manager profile to see if he is still active ( looking at last time the person was online ) and also doing a request to collaborate, here it tells us if they are still active or not and then if not it gives us the option of taking over just one profile of that manager or all of them, I always choose all.
Private User,
I've been doing exactly that for several months. If you look at my stats, I manage way more profiles than I added. I'll be trying to complete a merge in my portion of the tree and notice it's an abandoned profile, so I adopt it.

When you have a search screen open and there is no one listed as manager, it's most likely an abandoned profile. Go to the far right and you'll see a "More Options" link. Click that and you'll see the request management link. Sometimes you get 1 profile, sometimes more. Once I got 1100 profiles.
If you are in a search screen and you notice at the far right that there is no links to contact manager and no manager listed, it's also likely an abandoned profile. Click on the person's name to get to their profile so you can request management.
If you are in a compare profiles screen and one of the profiles has no manager, same thing. Click on their name to get to their profile. Once you receive management, you can complete the merge.
By the way, if it's an abandoned profile, it takes less than a minute to get the profile. If it's not abandoned, you will get a message that a request has been sent to the manager. You can leave the request in and see what happens or you can go to your inbox ->requests sent and cancel the request.
Regards,
Maria
Oops, Jennifer, that should read:

Also wanted to share with everyone a tip for getting more info on a locked profile. Go to the nearest unlocked relative's profile. The name of the locked person will not be a hyperlink, the unlocked ones will be. Once you know the person's name you can search for the profile. Once the profile is open you can easily see if it's a Zombie, an abandoned profile or a profile locked with high privacy settings.
Mes chers amis,

I don't want to see anyone "punished" by blocking their tree without a day in kangaroo court. These people should be contacted by Geni and find out why they have not been cooperating. Perhaps the member does not understand, is not computer savvy, not PRO, died, etc. But they need to be straightened out and reminded of the mission of Geni - to connect the whole world tree. When this process is hindered by people using the Geni program as private software it is against the "prime directive" and has to be policed in someway by Geni. Perhaps mgmt could do this by identifying dead accounts with no activity or log-ins during a certain agreed time frame. Or designing a program to scope out accounts holding zombies, contacting these people or taking them out of the mainstream into a holding area until contact can be made.
