I'd like to know if anyone has an Abraham POTASHNICK in their family tree who was the brother of Max POTASHNICK. They emigrated to Brooklyn, NY from VILNA in about 1905. Max POTASHNICK was married to Sarah. Their birthdates would be approx. 1880, plus or minus 10 years. Abraham POTASHNICK was married to Mollie POTASHNICK (nee ROOT). (b. approx 1900).
My grandfather was Max Potashnick from Woodbine, N.J. He was married to Sarah. Would like to talk to you and see how we are related. My email address is todmarin@yahoo.com. Look forward to hearing from you.
Joe Potashnick
My grandmother's (Gertrude Berman Yolen) first husband was Joe Potashnick, and they lived in Woodbine, NJ. They are listed in the 1910 US census for Woodbine, NJ. Joe and a baby daughter died tragically in a fire, and my grandmother later remarried. Gertrude was from Volozhin (Vilna gugernia). I'd bet anything that this is the same extended family. Please let me know if you have any info.
My name is Hillary Braff Schneidman. My mother was Annette Katz Braff, her mother was Frances Meranes Katz and her father was William Katz. They lived in Woodbine and Max Potashnick was a witness to their marriage on June 11, 1916. I have papers with Sarah's name as well. Growing up I do remember the name Potash. I think that we are cousins. My email is hillby12@aol.com. Hopefully we can connect the dots.
@ m y grandfather was max potashnick from woodbine,n.j. and married to sarah. changed name to potash. my father was nathan potash. my email address is todmarin@yahoo.com. pls contact..
I don't think there is a family connection here. I can tell you that in my POTASHNICK family the names of Morris and Abraham were alternated in each generation from father to son, and this lasted for many years. My maternal grandfather, Abraham Potashnick, was married to Mollie Root. There was also a family connection with the CHAITE surname.
