According to the 1930 Census, there was a boy named Marion in the household (Clara, Irving, Heinrich, Frieda, Mathilda, Marion (male), and Regina). No mention of Simon, just this name Marion... so I assume it's either a mistake by the Census-taker or Simon was born with the first name "Marion".
