John Buzby (d.1699) was a Quaker and the son of John Guzby of Tew,
Oxfordshire, England. He immigrated in 1682 from Shipton, England to
Philadephia, and married Mary Taylor in 1689. Descendants and relatives lived
in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and elsewhere.

He was Friends on February 4, 1682 in Oxford MM at John Hart's house. He emigrated before June 3, 1682 from Ship 'Amity' from London, England. John Buzby 2-4-1682 brought certificate to Phila MM from Milton MM, Parish of Shipton. He and Jeremiah Osborne in 1686 says "4 years gone and shipmates on the "Amity" Richard Diamond, Master.
He immigrated on June 3, 1682 to Upland (Chester), Pa. (Frankford, Pa.. FHL#1320832, Busby, a Quaker Family from England to Pa. and NJ, 1682-1794, Milton Rubicam.
"The 4th day of ye 2nd mo. 1682...Whereas, Joshn Busbey, weaver, of Milton; in the parrish of Shipton and belonging to the meeting att Milton is disposed to transport himselfe beyond sea into Pensilvania this is our testimony to whom it may Concerne yt he ownes the living and everlasting truth of God and hath walked amongst us blameless in his life and Conversation and wee doe believe yt he is nott Indebted unto none as wee Can understand, therefore, we shose names are here under written doe sett our testimony thereof."
John Busby, the sonne of John Busby of Tew in Oxfordshire came over when he was Young in ye Year 1682, recd a Testemoney after his Arriuell he was buriel 6..8..1699 He died on August 6, 1699 in Philadephia, Pa.. He was Certificate of Removal February 4, 1682 4 Feb 1682 SoF in Milton MM, Parish of Shipton, England. Removal Certificate from Milton reads as follows. 'The 4th day of ye 2nd mo. 1682. wheras, John Buzby, weaver of Milton in theParish of Shipton and belonging to the Meeting at Milton is disposed to transport himself beyond the sea into pennsylvania this is our testimony to whom it may Concerne he ownes the living and everlasting truth of god and hath walked amongst us blameless in his life and Conversation and we doe believe his is nott Indebted unton none as we Can understand therefore we doe sett our testimonh thereof'

When John Buzby and his wife Mary Taylor first landed in Philadelphia in 1685, the population of Philadelphia was under 7000 people.
All of Burlington Co., was called West Jersey and it was sparsely populated with farms right up until after W.W.II.
