Please people... can we use some common sense here?

John Alden (b.1622) - not to be confused with his father John Alden (b. 1598) - IS NOT the same person as Captain Jonathan Alden (b. 1632).

I'm getting real tired of having to clean this up over and over again.

STOP MERGING THESE TWO!

They are brothers... not the same person.

Would it be possible for you to direct messages such as these to only those people who are collaborators on the profile in question? I keep getting messages from you that are regarding parts of your tree that have nothing to do with me. Much appreciated!

Renee: This is not email. I cannot 'direct' a public discussion like you can 'direct' email. You are in my collaborator group... so you receive everything I add to Geni's Public Discussions.

If you do not wish to receive further messages from this thread... click the 'Unfollow' link at the top of this thread.

Merely a question. Thank you for clearing it up for me.

i suppose my true question is how i opt out of being a part of these discussions to begin with. but, short of not collaborating with anyone, that doesn't seem to be an option.

Renee: I understand... geni can be confusing.

It's not. You can, however, just ignore the discussions altogether. That seems to be what many are doing.

I see you corrected this in a couple of profiles I was current manager of. Thanks for you efforts.

Renee ... you should be able to go into "settings" and change how you get connected to discussions.

@Private User No Problem. The Alden tree is, kind of, my speciality... I enjoy working in this area (most of the time).

Hi Jason Herbert, I read that you take interest in the John Alden tree ! I have been searching to trace my family and came accross you ! Any information you have i would be grateful. My name is Lisa Alden, I am a decendant of the family John Alden left behind when he boarded the Mayflower, we think it was his brother ? We know more about our relatives in America than we do from the UK ! Can you help I would be most grateful ! Thank you
