WARREN – MY NAME IS BRUCE STRENGBERG (SERGEANT USMC 1965-1969), AND I SERVED UNDER YOUR UNCLE AT CHU-LAI. I WAS ONE OF TWO WHO PACKED HIS BELONGINGS FOR SHIPMENT HOME. I DON’T KNOW IF YOU KNOW THAT WHILE ON THE GROUND THE CAPTAIN WAS OUR SQUADRON’S MATERIEL OFFICER (SUPPLY) – I CHECKED IN WITH HIM A SHORT TIME BEFORE HIS DEATH – BUT OF ALL THE CASUALTIES WE EXPERIENCED, INCLUDING MYSELF, - HE WAS THE FIRST THAT I KNEW – FACE TO FACE SO TO SPEAK. I REMEMBER HIM AFTER ALL THESE YEARS – THINNER THAN YOUR PHOTO, WITH A DAY ‘S GROWTH – BUT AN EXCELLENT OFFICER – AND MADE ME FEEL WELCOME IMMEDIATELY. YOU HAVE ALL THE REASON IN THE WORLD TO BE PROUD OF HIM – AND I PASS ALONG MY DEEP SYMPATHY TO YOUR FAMILY ON HIS PASSING ALL THOSE YEARS AGO – BUT FEEL BETTER OFF HAVING KNOWN HIM.

REGARDS,

BRUCE STRENGBERG
