Does anyone know what year Grandpa emigrated to the U.S. from Sweden?

dad ( Paul Harvey Anderson ) had this in his genealogy records:

Born in Sweden as Charles Simon but changed to Carl Simon. In document from Ron his birthdate is listed as 1885. He went to school for four years. His mother wrote a letter to him in the US and she addressed it to Charles Perrson. Immigrated to the US at age 17 with his brother John in June of 1903. He lived in Buffalo, NY for a while with his brother but did not like the climate. Carl taught himself to read and write in English. He married Augusta June 25 1909. In 1909 he became a US citizen. In 1920 He and Augusta were living in Osceola, South Dakota. Osceola is half way between Summit and Marvin. In the 1920 census he and his family were living Osceola, South Dakota. After his marriage to Augusta he lived in Marvin, SD until 1920 when he moved with his family to Spencer, Aitkin, MN. In 1931 He Carl moved with his family to Glory, where he bought 120 acres. The farm was sometimes called "Devil's Bowl. Later he and Augusta sold the farm and moved next to the Glory Baptist Church. After Augusta died he spent many winters in Texas with his daughter, Esther, and Claude. He lived to be 92 years old. He died at the Aicota Nursing Home in Aitkin, MN.

Hi Rita,
Thanks for this information. Jackie and I were trying to figure this out.

The Devils Bowl must have been where Grandpa and Grandma lived down below our farm; do you know? I've never heard it called that.

That's right. There was also another description I have heard for the farm, which I don't recall right now. Have a great new year. Paul

Devil's Bowl ... how interesting. I'll see if my siblings have heard of this term. Happy new year to you and Rita.

Did Grandpa buy Wayne Nix's farm? Was that the 120 acres that he bought when he left Spencer for Glory?
