The 1920 census shows his birthdate as "about 1866". The 1930 says "about 1867". FWIW.

Yep, and I figure our "oral tradition" 1865 has just as much credibility as their two contemporaneous conflicting dates. ;-)

Hey a range within 3 years is pretty good considering we're talking about someone born 140+ years ago!! ;-)
