Google Translate is the first of experimental ideas we're testing in the new Geni Labs.

Google Translate will translate most pages on Geni into your choice of over 50 languages.

To activate the translation feature, click the Settings link in the header and look for the Geni Labs link.

On the Geni Labs page, check the "enable translation" checkbox and then click the Save Changes button.

The page will reload, and you will see a new "Translate" menu item in the header.

Click this menu to view controls for selecting your preferred language.

Once you select a language, a light blue Google Translate toolbar will appear at the top of the page. Google Translate will being translating the page.

You may view the original text at any time, by hovering over content with your mouse.

After a page has been translated, you can follow links as usual, and each page will be translated after it loads.

You can view the original English content of a page by clicking the View Original button in the Google Translate toolbar.

You can turn off Google Translate by clicking the "x" icon in the toolbar.

Return to the Geni Labs section of Settings to turn off Google Translate completely.
