Friedrich wrote a letter to the Duke defending Jacob Trautmann, pastor of the (Gross) Bundenbach church in today’s Grossbundenbach. Jacob was Lutheran and the Duke was Calvinist and wanted his churches to become Calvinist, what we know as the German Reformed Church. The letter is heavily theological and written in 400 year old Pfälzisch German. Friedrich was the Junker of the area, the lowest rung on the nobility chart and lived in a castle close to Grossbundenbach. It is only ruins today. Jacob was relieved of his duties at the church, but was reinstated about two years later and was at the church until his death. Grossbundenbach church remains an island of Lutheranism in a sea of Calvinism.
