I have been building his tree backwards today and adding sources where I can but can a curator or two please check and perhaps MP some of these directs for Mr Gates? I would love to see him connected to some of his famous ancestors such as Charlemagne (and/or other royals) who we know many are able to connect with...

I am having difficulty with Allegheny Maryland vs Allegheny Pennsylvania as I am not skilled in the timeframe (1700's and back -- this family appears to be from Germany)

Ok-- here is where I need help and will step off---
Several men of same name-- Jacob Stotler--
Who married Nancy Stotler ?
Heinrich Jakob ‘Jacob’ Stotler, Sr.
Jacob Henry Stotler
and which Jacob son belongs where?
Are Jacob Statler and Jacob Stotler the same?

But ultimately, who is the father of Hannah and Christian and Jacob Stotler proven siblings
Hannah Kelley
Jacob Stotler
Christian Stotler of Alleghany County, Maryland

He was in law on my dad's Heron, from my 7th great granduncle to other distant family, Charlemagne Is my 31 th great grandfather, my mom, dad have that,

I disconnected until I can work on them or others can help.
Thank you!

I think the connection way back is on his mother’s side, and Gates’ genealogy team was not yet successful in working through the Statler family. It’s Alleghany County, Maryland, not Pennsylvania.

Erica Howton Thank you
Yes, Maryland
Curious Alene’s counties in both states…

It occurs to me that Jane Gates is a mulatto female per the various census records we find her in… I do hope some day her mitochondrial dna ill help resolve more questions

In the meantime, I don’t plan to work on this tree any time soon but do hope the Stotlers will be disambiguated! I was looking at public trees but there’s a lot of confusion there and I was fortunately able to find a family group in census and the will of Christian Stotler naming five children.

Forgive the typos please

They are, we just can’t take the Stotlers back very far so far.

Jacob Stotler is not the same as Jacob Statler

Thank you, Erica Howton
