Captain Alexander Hamilton is presently identified as the husband of Jane Cavan, and the father of William Hamilton, but there is no mention of a wife or children in the account of his life published by the Dictionary of National Biography, or in the account published by Wikipedia. Moreover, there is no mention of a wife and family in his own account of his travels in the East Indies.
If anyone can produce unequivocal evidence which identifies a wife and children for Captain Alexander Hamilton it would be greatly appreciated.
