@William John Swainson, FRS, FLS
I am the great-great-grandson of William Swainson. I appreciate that you have taken the time to his family tree, however, I am concerned that the title "William John Swainson" is incorrect. Please note that his son (and my great-grandfather) was named William John Swainson (Willie), not his father.
 Unfortunately, in 2007, someone added John as a middle name to Wikipedia (with no source to verify the change), and it is starting to be added incorrectly to websites. Interestingly, Wikipedia's sources link to places that show his name as William Swainson. Wikipedia has now been corrected so I would love to see this corrected to William Swainson, FRS, FLS.

Corrected :)

Hi Tim, I'm researching the life and works of Rev. Charles Swainson, (naturalist), who was the son of Charles Litchfield Swainson of Crick, Northants., who was the half-brother of the above William Swainson. I have discovered quite a lot about Charles (1841 - 1913), and visited his parish recently in Old Charlton (St Luke's) where I was able to enlighten some of the parishioners about their previous Rector! I have a photograph of him which may be the only one in existence, and a photo of the old Rectory, now gone, where he wrote his "Provincial Names and Folklore of British Birds". I have also found where his grave is after years of searching, and am carrying on his research into the origins of bird names [at Glasgow University]. Would you like to correspond? I would love to share my notes with you. Michael McHugh
