A recent close Ydna match(I will refer to as HJ) in Illinois with a solid genealogy trail has possibly identified the father of my 4th great gf William Johnson. HJ can be traced back to William Johnson (abt1690-1700) in Brunswick County Virginia who was married to Martha Anderson. Their children were Nathaniel, Henry, William, Sampson, Lucy, Elizabeth, Rebekah and Sarah. HJ descends through Arthur L Johnson the son of Nathaniel. I believe my 4th great grandfather, William Johnson, was the brother of Nathaniel. He died in Johnston County NC in late1804. Sampson Johnson, another brother, apparently moved to NC. “Sampson Johnson of North Carolina to Absalom Bennitt of Brunswick Co. 21 Jan 1775. £70 VA. 255 acres in Meherrin Parish on both sides of Quarrel Swamp”. Sampson Johnson was found in the 1784-87 and 1790 Johnston County census along with my 4th ggf William Johnson. A BigY 700 test at FTDNA has confirmed a relationship and time frame to William Johnson (died 1759) of Brunswick County Va. We both belong to Ydna clade R-FGC13355 which is a branch of R-U106. This establishes the Ydna signature(R-FGC13355) of William Johnson who died in Brunswick County Va. in 1759.A recent close Ydna match(I will refer to as HJ) in Illinois with a solid genealogy trail has possibly identified the father of my 4th great gf William Johnson.
