Good day. Does anyone know and can educate me on the research or suggestion, etc that their was TWO Alpins. That one was a King and the son of Eochaid and that the OTHER Apin was the father of Kenneth and King of pics? So first queation I guess is are they or are they not the same person, is it possible they are the same person. etc?

and 2nd question what makes them believe that their was two different people and how strong , if any is the evidence? Thank you.

Good question. Where did you here this at?

Hello. At the fourth sections down on this profile: Alpín mac Echdach

Alpín mac Echdach may refer to two persons.

and on wiki at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/MacEchdach-2 in the bio.

The best I can understand is that they believe one is the Uncle and one the nephew. Eochaid is the father of one, the brother of the other...please correct me if I read and understood it wrong.

And than does that mean Eochaid is the father of aphin or is that still up for debate? Thank you

Post links to the two geni profiles please.

Alpín, Rí na Dál Riata

I apologize. I thought the I had attached the geni link as well above. Here it is. Again, about the 4th section down in the About section, you will see the discussion.

On wiki here is the link to the discussion: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Sorting_out_the_two_Alpin_profiles

Thank you

And the other one?

those were the only two links, there wasnt another one for geni.

The precise relationship between the following family group and the main family of Scottish kings has not been determined, but the names suggest a close relationship.
1. ALPIN . m ---. The name of Alpin’s wife is not known. Alpin & his wife had one child:

a) EOCHAID (-[937/40]). The 10th century Pictish Chronicle Cronica de Origine Antiquorum Pictorum records the death of "Dubucan filius Indrechtaig mormair Oengusa, Adalstan filius Advar rig Saxan, et Eochaid filius Alpini"[32], dated to [937/40] if the second person named can be identified as Æthelstan King of Wessex.

Probably that's the most we'll ever know unless more primary sources are found.

Thank you
