Capt. Thomas Hill, Sr., of Charles City - Who were his children?

The known children of Thomas Hill and his wife Mary Piersey are:

1. Mary Hilll married Moore Fauntleroy 'as his second wife in 1648'[9] (so she must have been born by 1634)
2. John Hill (born before 1638), died after 9 December 1670 (the date of his will) at Essex Lodge in York County, Virginia.
   1. John's son Thomas Hill married (1) Elizabeth, (2) Eleanor Charles, in 1695,[18] (3) Mary. Thomas left a will dated 28 August 1710 that named wife Mary, son John, and daughters Mary, Elizabeth, Ann and Lucy.[9]

Children: Since "Mary Bushrode" is listed as one of the people transported in a 1657 patent, it is thought by some that the patentee is her son by Capt. Thomas Hill and that she and Thomas Bushrod had married by the date of the patent (18 September).

THOMAS HILL, 500 acs. in Petomeck freshes, on S. W. side of Aquaconde Riv., beg. about half a mile below the falls on S. W. side of John Wood's land assigned to a Scottish man & running W. S. W. &c. 18 Sept. 1657, p. 122, (181). Trans, of 10 pers: Capt. Thomas Hill 3 times, Mary Bushrode twice, Jno. Hill, Georg Hill, Thomas Hill, Mary Hill, Francis Hill.[17]

One researcher states: 'From this I infer that Capt. Thomas Hill was the first husband of Mrs. Bushrod, and the other Hills their children, the son Thomas being the patentee.'[16]

Elmer Collier says 'I doubt that Capt Hill patented this land himself.... We know that John & Mary are children of Thomas and Mary Hill; the others may be their children or kin folks.'[9]
