John Lowrie is on Geni with parents Samuel George Kennedy Laurie and Mere Laurie but I don't think this is correct.
Mere and Samuel married in New Zealand and all their children (other than John) are born in New Zealand.
John is born in Scotland the same year that Mere and Samuel had a son Frederick in New Zealand.
This seems rather unlikely.
John's 1937 Victoria death record 14751/1937 lists his parents as William LOWRIE and Mary BROWN.
William LOWRIE 30 + Mary 23 + John 5 + Jean 2 months are listed as arriving in New Zealand on "Viola" which departed Glasgow 8 Dec 1864 and arrived in Auckland on 4 Apr 1865
