Hi Erica,
I did a deep dive on this family line, but it has been many years.
So the question I have is: has anything NEW ever been found on this?
Has anything NEW been found on who the husband was of Beatrice Coligny?
Some would say that Beatrice’s husband was the SON of Nicolas Mius, Gaspard’s interpreter.
but I have never seen any evidence of that, just speculation. I believe the story of the son of Nicolas Mius being raised by Jacqueline de Montbel is fabricated. There’s simply no evidence. And of course, a few years after Gaspard was murdered, Jacqueline wasn’t available to raise children, not even Beatrice, but was imprisoned in the Moncalieri fortress in Turin. It is believed she was raised by Gaspard’s family, the Montmorency family.
So the REAL question has always been, is Beatrice Coligny the MOTHER of Baron Phillip d’Entremon, governor of acadia?
In the big picture, it doesn't really matter (for me) who her husband was because there is no additional family that precedes him. However, to know if Beatrice is Baron Phillip d’Entremont’s mother would open up a whole new world of family, because that line is long.
I noticed on my family tree that it has already been determined that she is not, because the connection has been recently severed on the website.
I personally like to have documentation on any questionable family, however, it’s not always possible, which leaves it in question. On the other hand, circumstantial evidence can sometimes be so over whelming, it can prove a case. And I think there is quite a bit of evidence for proof, however, I think the jury may still be out on this one.
And I apologies, if I’ve missed the whole point of your discussion. But it seemed to me, there’s a bigger picture, when it comes to this family line.
