Im not sure if the right people will actually read this discussion but many of us take our Genealogy serious. We have researched for years and collaborate with others. I, for one, do not yet have my entire tree on Geni as i have it on my own personal program and transfer it as i can. I am always willing to help others and share what i have. I just wanted to, respectfully, ask for people to please refrain from just editing profiles and deleting profiles, especially if you arent even a manager on that profile. There is a reason why ladies have a "maiden" name and a "last" name. Please refrain from changing this without you first contact a profile manager and give documentation on the need for the change.
Thank you,
J. Daniel Peardon

Geni is - fortunately or not fortunately - not designed that way.
And it is unlikely anyone editing profiles managed by you will see this discussion.

Two suggestions
1) making Profiles Private cuts down on how many folks can edit them
And/Or
2) if you copy and paste that comment in your About, and in Account Settings for "Profile Privacy" you click for About to be Public, a few more folks thinking of editing or merging might notice.
