Self raised only real family contact grandma and great grandma Windsor.Started tree with paternal side. After years found fathers birth certificate Blake. He was adopted by his grandfather(walser). This made all the odd dna matches make sense.Traced line to Hastings 1066 and seneca hill.Robert le blac referred to as a axe weilding huscarl that his skill was a credit to his people.Assumption is le blac=the black but spelled blaec its meaning is white.Tried blanc.
This is interesting part on Gedmatch my Dna matches 150 for the Surname White.I too do have about half the McGregor aka's in dna matches white, black, brown, green, ect. All my large matches all scottish.I followed my Dane grandfather Asmussen name changed to gregersen in tree dna trail to possibly the orkneys. So possible greger on both sides.I have ancestors on the mayflower but not white. One noted as father of the mayflower Preist Robinson I believe and 6 passengers. The different spelling Capt Blake was given the isle of whyte in north carolina.Ive read many used it as a surname.
