I am researching my family history as a hobby and recently came across Lars Frijs in my family tree. The story surrounding Lars Frijs is fascinating, but I have some questions regarding the identification of Maria Catharina Jakobsdotter Spett as the wife of Anders Frijs and mother of Lars Frijs.
I find it difficult to believe that Maria Catharina Jakobsdotter Spett could be married to both Michael Andreæ Constenius and Anders Frijs simultaneously. If she were, she would have given birth to Elisabeth Maria Michaelsdotter Konstenius in 1695, Johannes Michael Mikaelsson Konstenius in 1698, and Lars Frijs in 1696—with different husbands. As we know, polygamy was not practiced during this time.
Moreover, sources (including a church record) uploaded to Geni suggest that Maria Mejer is identified as the widow of Anders Frijs. This leads me to believe that Maria Catharina Jakobsdotter Spett and Maria Mejer (or whatever name Lars Frijs's mother had) must be different individuals.
I would appreciate any insights or sources that could clarify this matter.
