Mary Ann Herbert
I am a grandchild of Mary Ann Herbert (Matheson) ( Mary Ann Herbert ) and George Henry Herbert. Having talked to Nana Mary Ann about her family history while she was still alive I question the inclusion of a marriage to George Darbyson George Darbyson ) in this tree. Nana Mary Ann was perfectly happy to talk about her parents, siblings and daughter from her previous marriage to William John Hawke, but she never mentioned a George Darbyson.
Furthermore, I see that George Darbyson was born in 1831, which makes him almost 60 years older than Mary Ann Herbert (Matheson). Although it is not impossible that they married, it seems highly unlikely. The NZ Marriage index shows a marriage of George Darbyson to a Mary Ann Mathieson c1879. That is obviously not Mary Ann Herbert (Matheson) since she was not even born at that time. I find it hard to believe that George Darbyson would have married 2 different women who were both named Mary Ann Matheson (Mathieson). It seems far more likely that the linking of George Darbyson to Mary Ann Herbert (Matheson) is incorrect, and that there is another woman named Mary Ann Mathieson still to be found who is his actual wife.
Unless there is compelling evidence backing up this relationship can I please request that the marriage of George Darbyson to Mary Ann Herbert (Matheson) be removed from this tree. Thanks.
