Reverend John Thomas Waraker has 2 sons called John both surviving til adulthood which is unlikely

John E Christie Waraker 1848-1916
John Edward Waraker, infant 1838-after 1851

Reverend John Thomas WARAKER arrived in Australia in 1851 with his second wife Louisa plus children Sophia, Lydia, Emily, John and Luisa

Only 1 son called John is listed in the immigration records

The 1851 England Census lists the following children

  • Daughter Sophia Wareker 14
  • Daughter Lydia Wareker 13
  • Daughter Emily Wareker 11
  • Son John E Wareker 3
  • Daughter Louisa Wareker 11 months

The John born in 1838 is not present - which would suggest that he had died, and the John born in 1848 was named after him

Reverend John Thomas Waraker

If you read the 1851 census closely you will see that John E Waraker is John C (Christy) Waraker with a pencil line through it that makes it look like a E.

John Cristy Waraker UK BDM 1848 Jun Q Wandsworth vol 4 page 567

There is a John Edwards Waraker born 1883, who may have got a 'slip of the pen' and been mistaken as the John E.

Also would he fit between the 2 sisters Lydia and Emily, and he couldn't have been born in Tooting as the family only went there post ~1846. They were in Reading and The Cheshunt area prior to that.
