As recounted by her son Edward (Ted Finch) to Anthony Ackland (nephew,), and family..
Sometime after their marriage, Bill (husband) decided Hetty was deserving of a new set of teeth, as was commonly the case.
Together they travelled by horse and cart from 'The Oaks', East of Cradock, to Hawker, to see the Dentist.
On arrival, Bill discovered that the Anaesthetist was intoxicated. 'You are not going to touch my wife', was Bill's response. It was decided however that Hetty should still have the teeth removal procedure done by the Dentist, which was subsequently performed without any anaesthetic of any kind.
Following this procedure, Hetty was bundled back into the cart, minus her original teeth, and returned to 'The Oaks' the same day.
