Profiles Mentioned:

* 1850 census for Thomas and Christina Pate list Sarah and 2 children named Mary. I believe the older Mary is Stephen's wife from their marriage a couple months earlier.
* Thomas Wilkerson was married to Jane Wilkerson on 16 Jan 1856, per their marriage record, and in the 1860 census Mary is listed as his wife with their son Jeremiah.
* In 1860, there are 2 censuses of the Thomas Pate family. In June, there are no children named Mary, nor is there a Sarah, but in the August 1860 census Sarah is listed in the Thomas Pate household.
* The death record also lists Mary Jane Wilkerson. The only record I have found that lists Thomas Pate's wife as Sarah is Find a Grave, and even the headstone has Jane.
* If she is indeed Sarah, who is the Sarah listed in the 1850 and 1860 census with Thomas Pate, because I doubt any family would have two living children with the same name.
* The age for Thomas Pate's wife also compares to the younger Mary in the Thomas Pate household.
* There is a Sarah Pate listed with Nancy in the 1880 census for Thomas Pate, even though the household numbers are different. They are listed like 3 separate families in one house. I haven't found any record of one of the Pate boys marring a Sarah, so I can only believe that Sarah is an unmarried child of Thomas and Christina Pate.
