Interesting domental program in Spanish RTVE came out a few days ago. 22 years of investigation of the origin of Cristobal Colòn aka Christopher Columbus. In short, he was a Sephardic Jewish origin converted to christianity in order to avoid inquisition. He was Western Mediterranean origin and very unlikely from Genoa. I include a link to an article of El Pais newspaper which is in Spanish of course but Google can translate it easily.
Maybe those who manage his profile in Geni may be interested to update his profile as there seem to be some discrepancies.

An international study, initiated in 2001 and led by forensic scientist and professor at the University of Granada, José Antonio Lorente, claimed on October 12, 2024 that Christopher Columbus was of Sephardic Jewish origin by examining the DNA in bone fragments of his apparent remains in Seville Cathedral, stating that "Both in the 'Y' chromosome and in the mitochondrial chromosome of Ferdinand Columbus there are traits compatible with Jewish origin" and stating that he was born somewhere in the Crown of Aragon.[81]. However, the study has not been peer-reviewed, as is standard for scientific publishments and publications, and the data on which the conclusion is drawn has not been made available for review by other scientists. In response, many historians dismissed the claim, making reference to the abundance of available sources showing Columbus was from Genoa, Italy.[82]
