To be more historically accurate, for the place names of her family that are Venice in the 1500s should the "Country" field be changed to "Republic of Venice" as it looks like it was until 1797?

The "County" field set to "Metropolitan City of Venice" may not be historically accurate either as I see that sounds like it began in 2015: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolitan_City_of_Venice
I'm trying to understand it better, and it sounds like the Republic of Venice had three subdivisions? One of them being Dogado or The Duchy of Venice: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogado.
Should that go in the County or the State/Province field?
I set up a Geni place name with a year range of 697-1797. Should we update to that or do you have any other suggestions to this place name for the 1500s?
