HMS Supply .v. HMAT Supply

Started by Jonathan Heppell on today

I have recently had cause to question the practice amongst modern historians, and others, of referring to the First Fleet vessel SUPPLY as HMS Supply. Extensive research has found no justification for this practice, whilst the surviving records emphatically establish that the correct appellation was and should still be His Majesty's Armed Tender (HMAT). Geni may be unwittingly complicit in this and would perhaps benefit, in terms of credibility, from an internal review, and if necessary participating in the correction of this misinformed practice.
