First record of Anson 1850 census Lauderdale Co. Miss. Anson, Rosanna & young son Hijah
(Orris Hicks said it may be Higah, he was known as "Hige" & "Higie" Death record was Higah) were living near the STRAIT family. Anson, Rosanna & young Hijah either went to Texas with Littleberry & family or followed soon afterwards. Roasanna was expecting another child & was apparently unhappy in Texas. Anson brought her & Hijah back to Mississippi when daughter Mary Euginia was born. Anson returned to Texas to join Littleberry & never returned to Mississippi. Rosanna, Hijah & Euginia "Jenny" lived with the STRAITS until Rosanna married Allen DORMAN 1858. Hijah was reared by the STRIT'S.

In eary 1860 Anson, Sr. & two slaves were digging a well. With Anson in the well digging & the slaves hauling the dirt to the surface in a large bucket. A pocket of poison gas was encountered. The slaves attempted to haul Anson to the surface. He fell off the bucket neat the surface back into the well. Anson died before help arrived. Anson died 2 mo. before his son William Anson Jr. was born,
