There seems to be a lot of confusion about the name Hamilton Brown and the place known as "The Farm" in Jamaica.

There is the partner of Mary Melvina Brown (Melvina Brown) ... who has been claimed to be the founder of The Farm -- from Ireland. His father was previously noted as Hamilton Brown Sr., but recently changed to be Charles. His profile: Hamilton Brown, II

There is the husband of Isabel Bennett / Brown (Isabel Robinson) ... who, based on children's records, was born 1836 and died 1918 and in 1894 (2nd marriage) was an Inn Keeper. His father is documented on that 1894 marriage as Charles Brown. His profile: [[Hamilton Brown, Inn Keeper

My current understanding leads me to think they are indeed two different people, and:

  1. that Melvina's partner was most likely to indeed be founder of "The Farm" with father Hamilton Brown of Ireland. Dates need re-examined for him (and father changed away from Charles).
  2. that Isabel's husband's dates are pretty well documented as 1836-1918 (although birth still need independent documentation vs. estimate on "age-at" events) -- with father Charles.

Siblings of these Hamilton Browns also need to be re-examined.

And... the About's will need to be made consistent with references links and text.

It seems the Founder of "The Farm" is Colonel Hamilton Brown, I

I've restored "the Founder" as the father of Mary Melvina's partner.
The father of Isabel's husband is Charles Brown

Point #1 in first post: should read more like:
... Melvina's partner was more likely to be the son of the founder of "The Farm" (as Melvina would have been age 4 when the founder died).

The founder of "The Farm" has been shown as "William Hamilton", as has his son.

Thank you, Dan.

Thanks to some messaging with user "Private User", we seem to have clarified a few things:

Hamilton Brown, Inn Keeper was married first (likely) to Mary Melvina Brown (also identified as Mary Melvina Brown). They had a number of children. After she died in 1892, this Hamilton then married [[Isabel Bennett / Brown Isabel Bennett / Brown] Isabel Robinson] in 1894.

[[Isabel Bennett / Brown Isabel Bennett / Brown] Isabel] was previously married to Richard Heckling Bennett, thus her name is showing as Isabel Bennett / Brown.

Hamilton Brown, Inn Keeper's father was Charles Brown (as shown on his 2nd marriage certificate).

We still have Colonel Hamilton Brown, I as the founder of what is now known as Brown's Town, with one of his son's as Hamilton Brown, II; both of these men have also been identified as William Hamilton Brown (vs. just Hamilton Brown). The documentation on Hamilton Brown, II is lacking, and his dates seem to be often confused with the well-documented Hamilton Brown, Inn Keeper.

It may be that both of these Hamilton Brown's of the mid-1850's lived on the same plantation. However, "Private User" unearthed this tidbit:

In 1840 the Jamaican Almanac listed Hamilton Brown as being the proprietor of 2,383 acres at Grier Park, in the Saint Ann Parish. In 1838 the Jamaican Almanac listed Charles Brown as being the proprietor of 817 acres at Penny Pen, in the Saint Ann Parish
