I linked my Y-DNA37 test results from FamilyTree to Geni. There are no matches in Geni even though this project has many R-M198 haplogroup participants.

FT upgraded my haplogroup a few days ago to R-CTS1211. A subclade of M198.

I relinked these results -- and of course still no matches at Geni.

Geni does report many matches for both my autosomal dna and mtdna.

Has anyone else had the "no match" problem for their y-dna haplogroup?

I am M198 with terminal SNP R-FT395854.It could be M198 is too distant for 37 markers? My test was Y700 at FTDNA.

Did you test with Family Tree DNA? You should find lots of matches at Y-37.

Ask Geni how to match your Y-DNA results to other profiles on Geni. Ask Geni how can you see a list of other R-M198 people in the Project. Remember anyone can join a Geni Project and not everyone who joins is a R-M198.

Ask questions if you are not clear about the objectives of the Project. Every Project is unique.

I don't work for Geni, I just ask a lot of questions.

Yes, my uncle has no matches at the y-111 level for R-M198 on Geni and 1 match on FTDNA. His newest update is R-L1.

We are still waiting for his Big Y results (since 8-11)and hoping that it yields enough to catch a few matches in Geni.

Thanks, Stephanie. I do have nine matches at the 37 and 25 marker level at FTDNA.
I probably set my expectations too high as far as what I would get at Geni.
At Ancestry and MyHeritage, for instance, I have thousands of autosomal matches, and only hundreds at Geni. Zero matches on the y-dna should not be a surprise ratio-wise.
I hope the Big-Y yields some results for you.

Tell me more.
I am R-M198.
Why is this so complicated?

I am in a similar situation. I have 6 matches at level 25, 1 match at level 37, 2 matches at level 67 and no match at level 111(So in the case of the Big-Y, I don't expect there to be a match either). I have no matches on geni. I suppose it's because the number of members with Y-DNA on geni is simply small, since no one other than FTDNA actually offers Y-DNA testing to the general public anymore.
